Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What types of learning differences do you support?
We specialize in working with students who have diagnosed or suspected learning disabilities, including dyscalculia, ADHD, dyslexia (with math-related difficulties), autism, and other diverse learning profiles. Our instruction is individualized and paced to support each student's unique needs.
Do you provide a formal diagnosis or testing?
No. Math Mindset LLC does not diagnose learning disabilities or conduct formal psychoeducational testing. If you need a diagnosis or an evaluation, we recommend working with a licensed psychologist, educational diagnostician, or school-based team.
How do your sessions support students with learning disabilities?
We use evidence-based strategies, visual supports, structured routines, and multi-sensory approaches to build number sense, boost confidence, and fill in foundational gaps. Instruction is personalized to each learner’s needs and learning style.
Can you help my child with their IEP goals?
Yes! We can align tutoring goals with IEP or 504 plan accommodations and academic goals to provide consistent support and reinforce skills being addressed in school.
Do you write IEPs or provide school-based services?
No, Math Mindset LLC does not write IEPs or provide direct school-based special education services. However, with extensive experience in special education and advocacy, we can help families understand their child’s IEP, clarify goals and accommodations, and collaborate with school teams as part of private educational support.
What ages or grade levels do you work with?
We work with students from grades three through twelve, with a focus on upper elementary, middle school, and early high school math.
What curriculum do you use?
We don’t follow a single curriculum. Instead, we tailor each lesson using research-based resources, diagnostic assessments, and student-specific learning goals. We also incorporate content from your child’s school if needed.
How often should my child attend sessions?
This depends on the student’s needs and goals. Most students attend 1–2 sessions per week. During your consultation, we’ll help you determine the best frequency for your child.
What technology is needed for online sessions?
All you need is a computer or tablet with internet access, a webcam, and a quiet space. We use interactive tools that allow students to engage in real-time, just like they would with a tutor in person.
How do you measure progress?
We monitor progress through regular informal assessments, student work samples, and periodic reviews. You’ll receive updates to track your child’s growth and areas of focus.
How do I get started?
